My Monday night consisted of watching Prison Break and American Gladiators brother, and some college basketball. I have to tell you I think the college ref's are betting on the games, or at least the one's I saw last night. Georgetown was hosting Villanova and the game was tied with 30 seconds to go. Villanova had the ball and was holding for the last shot. Reynolds drove and ended up turning the ball over to Georgetowns Wallace and has Wallace was running up the side line's he got a little bump and the ref called a fould with .1 seconds to go. By little touch I mean very very little. This foul wouldn't of been called at any point in any game by any ref let alone with .1 seconds left AND putting the Hoya's on the line for 2 shots. Wallace nailed them both game over. Yes you can argue if 'Nova got the shot off, if this and that bla bla Villanova got screwed there chance to upset the number 8 team, make a run at getting in the playoffs, because of the ref's. That is a couple game's that Georgetown had to win thanks to the ref's. For some reason I got drawn into the end of the Rutger's Tennessee women's game. Maybe it was the pink jersey's Rutgers was rockin', or maybe since the whole Rutgers Don Imus thing I just felt like watching. It's the end of the game Rutger's is up 1 and Tennesee has the ball. They get a shot or two off and a Tennesse player catches the ball with .2 seconds proceeds to get a shot off and then after it misses the ref calls a foul. The rule says a shot cannot be taken under .7 seconds it has to be a tip. What happened was when she caught the ball the clock stopped at .2 let her get the shot off then the time ran out then the foul was called. The ref's look at it and see nothing wrong with it. If you can't see that live that's one thing, but if you can't see it on the replay, your fired. Go to the following link and you can see the replay yourself.
It's horrible that for the amount of money those guy's make they can't make the right call. I hope they get some kind of suspension or have to go back to doing modified game's on saturday morning because that is crazy. Now just imagine if this happened to a team i actually liked. I would hit up whitepages.com and find out where this referees live and give them a nice little phone call. No probably not. On a side note i was pumped that in Prison Break they were actually breaking out of Prison. Gladiators was ok to Brother.
